Carver Area Civic Improvement League

The Carver Area Civic Improvement League was founded in the 1950s and continues to work in preserving a healthy and vibrant community. Through CACIL, neighbors work together to address issues such as housing, public improvements, land use, litter control and planning the neighborhood’s future. Citizen involvement is critical to the success of Carver’s development.

Membership is open to Carver residents, as well as business and property owners who may not live in the Carver community. A yearly membership fee of $10 is required for residents. You can pay your dues via PayPal - carvercommunityrva@gmail.com

CACIL meets the last Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at 1300 W Marshall Street and virtually on Zoom.

About the Carver Community

Carver is diverse neighborhood and has everything you need within walking distance. Did you know we have a walk score of 93? That because you can go out to eat, do your grocery shopping, even go get a tattoo, all within a few blocks. Being walkable fosters neighbor and visitor interactions and decreases dependency on vehicles and parking spaces.

If you're visiting Carver via car, you'll find plenty of street parking. Since the neighborhood is part of the parking district, a parking permit is required for long term parking and only available for residents. That means on most streets running east and west, parking is limited to 1 hour and streets running north and south are limited to 2 hour parking.

George W. Carver Elementary is also located within the community. The scholars there are led by their principal, Dr. Tiawana Giles. Carver Elementary is also supported by the Embrace Carver Foundation.
